Summary

In Act Two, "The Townspeople Tell the Story of Momma Galya," "Townspeople Speak of Galya on Her Green Bicycle," the townspeople describe Momma Galya Armolinskaya, a 53-year-old theater owner. When the soldiers attempt to arrest her, she bikes away.

In "When Momma Galya First Protested," Momma Galya smokes and yells at a soldier. Rumors of her courage and defiance spread throughout Vasenka.
