Summary

A woman named Lilith Iyapo Awakens in a dark room in a state of confusion. She has been awakened several times over the last several years and has learned little about her captors, but is aware that she occupies an alien space. Humanity has been decimated by a nuclear war, and Lilith’s husband and son, Sam and Ayre, are dead. There is a brief period during of her captivity during which she is paired with a young boy named Sharad; he is no longer in the room, however, for this latest awakening.

After a moment of looking around the room, Lilith realizes that she shares the space with a strange, gray, tentacled extraterrestrial being who gives his name as Jdayah. She is revolted by his appearance, but Jdayah is calm, explaining to her that she has been kept in suspended animation...
