Summary

In “Fall 1977”, Rich discovers that the Damnation Grove harvest is stalled again after the discovery of a second human skull. He continued to worry about loan payments while Colleen worried that she was pregnant with Daniel’s child. Her period was weeks late and she was not sure how she would explain the pregnancy to Rich, who she had not slept with in months. She took an at home pregnancy test and was simultaneously relieved and disappointed when it read negative. When she returned from the bathroom, she found the fish, that had come out in the tap water, was dead. Meanwhile, while Rich was walking in 24-7 Ridge, he noticed that someone was poaching burls from the redwood trees. He told Eugene, who was employed to patrol the grove, and asked him to keep an eye out for more poachers.
