Summary

In Chapter 5, as Anna was getting the girls ready for school, someone knocked on the front door twice, but she ignored them. She heard Hamish’s cellphone ring and was angered when he answered it because he usually did not answer when she called. Anna went to answer the door when someone knocked a third time. Hamish was on the landing, coming down the stairs. He had a suitcase with him. There was another knock and Anna knew she was about to meet the reason for Hamish’s unusual moods. It was Estelle. Anna suddenly felt as if she were a character in the wrong story.

In Chapter 6, Hamish explained to Anna and their daughters, Jessica and Lizzie, that the girls were going to go on a vacation with him and Estelle while Anna moved. Anna next describes Estelle crying and shaking sugar...
