Summary

In Chapter 6, Tsukuru emails Sara, inviting her to dinner. She is out of town, but agrees to meet him on Saturday. When they meet, Sara gives Tsukuru a gift. When he opens the box, he finds there is a blue silk tie inside. He's moved by her thoughtfulness and by her obvious good taste in clothing. Sara tells him about her recent visit to Singapore, then turns the topic to his friends and the obvious impact of their decision to shut him out. Sara believes Tsukuru has unresolved emotional issues related to that event in his past. She says she felt that he was “somewhere else” while they were making love.

They leave the restaurant and walk, continuing to talk about Tsukuru's past. He says he has had some relationships with women over the years and that it was his fault they didn't...
