Chapter 10 Summary

Chapter ten begins in the month of March. Flora has been on the farm a month but has not made the progress she hoped. She gave Adam a mop to clean the dishes, but he was so fascinated by its beauty he decided to hang it over the sink to admire and keeps using his twigs for the dishes. On her daily walks, Flora keeps an eye out for Elfine but never has a chance to speak to her. She is keen to fix her clothing and hair to make her eligible for marriage to the man she admires, Richard Hawk-Monitor. She doubts Richard would be interested in Elfine otherwise.
