Summary

In Ten, "The Gull," in Diogenes's next folio, when Aethon meets the goddess, he begs her to give him wings so he can "fly to the city in the clouds" (292). She says this city does not exist and turns him into a fish.

In "Lakeport Public Library: February 20, 2020, 5:27 P.M.," Seymour watches the police cars and drones outside. Marian's office phone rings. Sharif tells Seymour to answer. Seymour unplugs the phone. He calls Bishop from his phone. No one answers. Sharif stalls, convinced that "Bishop's people will call back or arrive to help" (296).

Zeno cannot understand what is happening downstairs. He guides the children backstage and tells them to stay quiet. Backstage, the children talk about altering the script. One of the children trips, making a loud noise.
