Protagonist, “CivilWarLand in Bad Decline”

The unnamed protagonist/narrator of “CivilWarLand in Bad Decline” is an employee who works at a Civil War-themed amusement park. He engages in various menial and managerial requirements for the park’s unscrupulous owner, Mr. Alsuga. When Alsuga hires a violent man to defend the park from local gangs. The protagonist does not protest, as he needs his job in order to support his family. The violent man, Sam, begins killing gang members and even just teenage bystanders. The protagonist does not do anything at first, but he eventually decides that he must report Sam and Alsuga, even though he might also be implicated as an accomplice. However, Sam then kills the protagonist.
