Gonzalo

Gonzalo is one of the main characters of the novel. He grows up in Santiago, Chile. When he is a teenager, he dates and falls in love with Carla. Although they are attached to one another, Carla soon grows frustrated with Gonzalo’s lackluster performance in bed. When she breaks up with him, Gonzalo falls into depression. He turns to poetry to ease his sorrow. The more he writes, the more attached he comes to the artistic form to express his complicated emotions.

Nine years after their last breakup, Gonzalo and Carla run into each other at a nightclub. This impromptu reunion catalyzes a deep and meaningful relationship between them.
