Summary

The gun violence continues in the Epilogue of Children Under Fire. Just as so many children before her were hurt, My'onna Hinton, age 4, was shot by a friend. Her spinal cord was injured, and for a while she could not even move her hands. The shooting rampages continued even as the novel coronavirus was spreading throughout the United States. Soon, COVID-19 would steal the spotlight from the gun violence, but the gun violence would continue. Cox sees very little in his own reporting to give him hope, but a gun-owning state senator from South Carolina draws his admiration. Greg Gregory decided on February 14, 2018, that he would no longer defend those who advocated for weapons of war in the hands of civilians. He was willing to withstand the vicious criticism of his conservative colleagues.
