Summary

Holsten is awakened suddenly yelling that he does not want to go to the colony. He is told to shut up by people he does not recognize. He then realizes that one of them is holding a gun. One of the men, named Scoles, drags him away and Holsten realizes that there are no other key crew members in their pods. They are fired upon by weapons called disrupters and Scoles calls their attackers Scoles friends. Once they escape in a different part of the ship, Scoles dumps Holsten beside a second prisoner, Lain. He realizes she looks older and she tells him that their attackers are the chosen colonists who refuse to go down to the moon colony. Scoles tells them that none of them want to end up dead and that Holsten has valuable knowledge...
