Chapter 13 Summary

Dressed in her sailing clothes, Charlotte convinces Fisk that she is serious about joining the crew. He warns her that the rest of the crew will not be open to it, and the two go to the forecastle to tell the idea to the men. Charlotte and Fisk first tell three of the crewmembers. The men express their doubts, and Charlotte tries to assure them the she is willing and able to take on all the challenges that come with being a sailor. The men tell her that if she is able to climb to the top of highest point of the ship and back down and she still wants to be a sailor, then they will allow it.
