Summary

While exploring Little Mouth, Cissy, Jean, and Mim happen upon mica and other rocks and crystals in spectacular patterns. The girls compare it to a cathedral or a church. The trio wonder whether or not Little Mouth connects to Paula’s Lost. They decide to try and follow the path in Little Mouth toward Paula’s Lost. As they start to get further and tire, Cissy suggests that they could camp overnight in Little Mouth and thus make up more ground. The three return to do just that. Cissy, who normally suffers insomnia, is able to sleep for a full four hours in the cave. After the trip, Cissy finds herself continuing to imagine going into the cave and exploring ever further.
