Summary

In "This Ain’t No Country Club," Lee, Israel remembers that it was on July 27, 1992, when she waited for Hock to meet her at a fancy kosher deli. After she had waited more than an hour, Israel decided that Hock misunderstood and had gone to her apartment. On the sidewalk, a man with whom Israel was not familiar called her name. He showed her the star on his wallet, indicating that he was FBI.

The man and his partner told her that they had caught Hock. The dealer to whom Hock planned to sell the letters was cooperating with the FBI. Israel was told what Hock had told the agents and was asked not to contact him. She bought a bottle of scotch, went home and destroyed all of the written evidence. She collected her typewriters...
