Chapters 9 & 10 Summary

All the teenagers are now piled into the same truck fleeing the airbase as quickly as possible, with two army jeeps following on their tail. Lee is hanging in the hollow of the dump truck trying to attack all three jeeps on his own. Ellie knows that he'll never be able to manage it, so she crawls out of the window of the accelerating truck, and hurls herself into the hollow alongside him. She almost misses the jump and has to cling onto the side of the truck by just her bloodied fingertips. When she finally crawls her way to Lee he says, "Thought you'd never get here" (Page 117).
