War

The novel is set in the early 25th century during a war that is taking place for colonies in space. Although the war is in space, it draws humans that came to colonize the planets from Earth to participate in the war. The war draws these humans to take over planets and territory for particular religious beliefs and control. The war for the crew that signs up to participate in the excavation of the Martian ship is about hiding their mission to uncover the Martian ship from the powers that are fighting for control. The crew is also battling the unknown of what sits behind the gate of the Martian spaceship.
