Summary

Chapter 17 begins Part Four of the novel. Darren went to the sheriff’s station to visit Geneva, and received Missy’s autopsy reports. She had a blood alcohol level of zero at the time of her death, and was apparently killed by manual strangulation before being thrown into the bayou. Darren believed she was thrown in the water to make it appear as though there were a link between Michael and Missy’s deaths. Missy also had the contents of a meal from Geneva’s café in her stomach, leading to Van Horn arresting her. Geneva claims it was Keith that killed Missy after finding out about Keith Jr.’s real father. Geneva revealed that the night of Missy’s death, she drove Geneva home and saw Keith’s truck parked outside. Darren resolved to challenge the arrest, now armed with this new...
