Chapter 8: Quest Summary

Stile plays the Platinum Flute as he emerges in Phaze, and the mountains nearly tremble but not quite. When he vows to end the person who killed his other self and his friend, the mountains echo as the oath shakes the firmament, but Stile weeps because none of this can bring Hulk back from death. At the Blue Demesnes, he informs Lady Blue and Neysa of Hulk's demise and his oath of vengeance. Lady Blue tries to dissuade him, promising to act as though she loves him, but Stile refuses because he will fulfill the oath in the best way he knows how; Lady Blue is angry that Stile is so like her lord. Finding Neysa in the courtyard, Stile expresses concern about leaving Lady Blue alone while he seeks the enemy Adept, but Neysa has summoned a pack of werewolves...
