Harry Dresden

Harry Dresden is the main protagonist in the story. Harry is a wizard who works in the private sector but also does consultant work for the Special Investigative division of the police force. Harry is an orphan who has no memories of his mother. His friend, Murphy, does not get along well with her family and Dresden reminds her that having a family to argue with is better than having nothing. Harry has been helped in the past by a member of the White Court vampires named Thomas. Thomas asks Dresden to help him protect a friend who works in the adult film business. Harry agrees, with the understanding that he will be told the truth about why Thomas has been helping Harry when the two should be at war.
