Harper House

The setting used in Black Rose by Nora Roberts is Harper House. Harper House is an elegant manse located in Memphis, Tennessee. The house has been in the Harper family for generations and has been passed down to Roz Harper Ashby. When it is time, Roz will pass the house on to one of her three sons.

Roz is particularly proud of Harper House. It is a combination of Greek Revival and Gothic styles. The house is yellow stone with white trim. The gardens are a source of pride for Roz since she has created much of the atmosphere with her gift of gardening. The grounds are covered with towering magnolias, floods of pansies, delicate dogwoods, and ornamental shrubs.
