Summary

As the graphic novel opens, Valerian and Laureline are on a raft in a rough body of water, later identified as a lake. From their conversation, the reader learns that Valerian was driving their spaceship when it crashed. He says he saw something just before the crash, and claims that he lost consciousness for a moment. Laureline says that moment resulted in their current situation. Laureline notices that there are a lot of crashed spaceships alongside their own. Valerian supposes that all the ships that have been reported missing must have wound up here. Valerian also predicts that they were all lured to the planet, as Valerian was. Laureline says that gives some credence to Valerian's claim that he lost consciousness.
