The Curse of Bourne Manor

While the apparent antagonism in Bird is between Miranda and Wysteria, the true antagonism seems to be between Miranda and her home, Bourne Manor. Bourne Manor has existed for several generations, having been named for Dr. Mead's great grandmother. The Barrows family acquired the home long ago and the home led several generations of Barrows's to their deaths, including Captain Lawrence Barrows, Wysteria's husband. It is said that the Manor is cursed and that many believed it to be so in the town. The Manor is thought to drain the life out of its inhabitants and to keep them close inside. It undermines any threats to its integrity and mesmerizes those who live within it long enough. The Manor is also said to have a legendary treasure which obsesses both Wysteria and Dr. Mead.
