Summary

C.M. travels to Byhalia, Mississippi, in the Former Southern Territory, in order to interview people whom she believes knew X when she was young. She is shown around by a tour guide named Nancy, who is a member of the Travel Mentor Program. C.M. speaks with X’s parents, Angela and Leon, who refer to X as Carrie Lu and who seem to be of mixed mind about X’s purported death, which ostensibly occurred during an assault on a munitions factory called the Revelation Rifle Affair.
