Parts 1-3 Summary

Beauty, Tristan and the other slaves are driven to the auction in the village marketplace. The group remains naked, herded like cattle into the back of the cart and subject to rough roads and no protection from the elements. The slaves arrive at the marketplace and are met by the Commander of the Patrol, a vicious man who delights in humiliating the slaves.

Beauty and Tristan manage to talk while on the cart. Amid the other slaves, they are pressed close together. Due to the rough roads and jostling of bodies, the couple has a surprising chance to have sex. Afterward, Beauty and Tristan talk about how they went from being honored slaves serving their masters to "bad slaves," who were sent to be sold at the auction. Tristan relayed thought about giving into Lord Stefan's wishes because it was easier than disobeying his master...
