Chapter 2, A Boy and A Man Summary

The crevasse is narrow but deep. Rudi cannot see the bottom. He calls out and is answered by a voice. The voice is German, not Swiss - so Rudi knows it is not a man from Kurtal. He finds out that the man is trapped on a ledge about twenty feet down. He cannot see the man due to the angle of the chasm. He quickly finds out that the climber is not injured but has been trapped for about three hours. The man asks if Rudi has a rope, and he replies that he does not.
