Summary

Part 4 of the novel is set on August 21.

In Chapter 20, narrated with a focus on Jen, Jen ended her affair with Jason after Sam's breakdown. She was also playing doubles tennis with Laurent. They had made it into the women’s semifinals.

After the bay picnic, Jen managed to convince Sam that Rachel was lying about the affair because Rachel wanted Sam for herself. They had made amends and their relationship was back in a good place.

Jen was elated when she and Lauren beat Rachel and Emily in the semifinal match. Jen knew how much Rachel had wanted to win the tournament that year. After the game, Jen watched as Rachel and Sam went into Robert’s hut.
