Importance: Mr. Tushman encourages Julian, Jack, and Charlotte, the three students who have agreed to be Auggie’s welcome buddies, to treat him just like they would treat any other new student at the school. Mr. Tushman has trouble describing Auggie’s appearance even as he tries to project that Auggie is not different from any other kid.
