Chapter 24, The Aftermath Summary

Jonqui finds Fitz laying near Burrich's body and secrets them in a hidden chamber. She nurses them slowly back to health. While Fitz recovers, the Mountain people spend a month in mourning for Rurisk. After this time, Kettricken bids farewell to Fitz and travels to Buckkeep. Regal accompanies her much cowed by Verity's Skilled message. Burrich recovers and returns to the stables in Jhaampe.

Fitz contemplates his return to Buckkeep. Eventually Burrich, Fitz, and one other make the long journey back to Buckkeep. Verity has placed Regal on a tight leash. The promised wood for ships is sent from the Mountain people to King Shrewd. The re-fortification of the Six Duchies begins as the ships effectively ward off the Red Raiders.

The final paragraph of the chapter tells how Fitz was rescued from the bath. Nosy gave his life...
