Summary

In Chapter 8, Phaedra appeared on the cliff with Theseus’s club. She had retrieved it “from the storeroom” (65). Agreeing that they wanted Theseus to survive and defeat the Minotaur, Theseus, Ariadne, and Phaedra made a plan. Ariadne would sneak his club into the labyrinth. Theseus would escape the labyrinth after killing the Minotaur. Phaedra would wait for them in a cove. Then they would all sail to Athens together. The sisters could not stay in Crete after helping Theseus, as Minos would be furious.

Ariadne trusted Theseus, convinced she was in love with him. They kissed several times before Ariadne tore herself from his side.
