Summary

Andre’s voice takes over the narrative. He confesses that he has loved Celestial his entire life, from the time that they were neighbors in Atlanta. He remembers one day in high school, after prom, when they made out on the couch. Celestial had refused to go further, and they separated when Celestial went to Howard University. He remembers Roy asking Andre several times about Celestial. Although he truly wished Celestial and Roy a good and happy marriage, he began dating her after Roy’s imprisonment. He notes that while this was surely painful for Roy, he and Celestial truly loved one another.
