Summary

Chapter 11 opens the next day, with Miranda giddy and beaming, being called by Hugo into his workroom so he can congratulate her on the good news about the play. He pours them both a shot of whiskey to toast her good fortune and admits to finding whole story about the donors almost too incredible to believe, amazed that people care about the theater so much. Hugo suggests the two get together for a drink off campus sometime to discuss the play, and the infatuated Miranda can hardly believe it. As she fantasizes about their date, he mentions the nearby Canny Man, and when Miranda rejects the suggestion, Hugo leaves it to her to choose the place another time.
