Summary

In Chapter 10, narrated by Nina, Kirk would not tell Nina what he planned to say to Tom during their meeting. When she met Kirk later at lunch, Kirk told her that Tom had seemed to want to handle things without the honor council as well. He indicated to Nina that he had given Tom an “incentive” (107) in the form of $15,000. Nina was concerned about the impression it would make if Finch found out that his father had given Tom money and that his mother had agreed to it. Kirk tried to convince Nina that they would get through what had happened. Nina tried to believe that he was right.
