Point of View

All the Lovers in the Night is written from the first person point of view of the main character Fuyuko. Throughout the novel, Fuyuko’s perspective acts as the propelling force behind the narrative trajectory and the inspiration for its central conflicts. When describing her work and life experience in Chapter 1, Fuyuko explains, “If I thought about things long enough, I would always lose track of my own feelings, which left me with no choice but to proceed as usual, without taking any action” (15).
