Summary

Chapter 61 finds Tom attempting to understand and explain the life of John Barren and his connection to him. John is a successful architect, which confuses Tom until he sees pictures of John’s buildings. They look exactly like buildings from Tom’s world. Tom realizes that John always had a window into his mind, taking experiences and images from Tom’s life and first writing stories about it and then creating buildings from it.

In Chapter 62, Tom describes the new version of his father, Victor. In this version of reality, Victor is a physics professor who has not seen much success. He is much more jovial and devoted to others than Victor was in the earlier world, but he has retained his interest in time-travel.
