Komura

Komura is a man who works in Tokyo as a hi-fi salesman. He is quiet and non-confrontational, and at the beginning of "UFO in Kushiro" he is somewhat shell-shocked from the sudden departure of his wife in the wake of the Kobe earthquake. His reticence goes so far as to make him almost devoid of personality, one of the reasons that his wife leaves him in the first place, claiming that living with him is like "living with a chunk of air."

Komura's impassive approach continues even as he is swept along in a strange task by one of his coworkers and sent to Kushiro to deliver a box to a woman named Keiko. He is received by Keiko and her friend Shimao, who are able to recognize Komura despite the fact that he is not holding the box as he was instructed to, a detail he chooses...
