Chapters 11 and 12 Summary

Hollywood is excited when he finds out that Maybe and Ted are hitching a ride to LA with him. Maybe sneaks home when she knows Chessy won't be there. Maybe takes Chessy's old wedding rings, $350 in cash and finds a photo of Chessy with a man named Gunnar. The photo was taken nine months before Maybe was born, so she assumes it could be her father. Maybe leaves Chessy a note in the liquor cabinet that says she's going to LA with Ted to stay with his cousin Carla for the summer.

Ted, Maybe and Hollywood have started their road trip. They agree to sleep in the car to save money, but one morning they wake up to three guys demanding money and drugs. Since they don't have either, one of the men punches Hollywood and gives him a fat lip...
