Salvo Montalbano

Salvo Montalbano is a 58-year-old inspector in Vigitá, Sicily. He has been an inspector for many years and is beginning to feel his age. He complains of indigestion after he eats heavy meals and argues with his long-time girlfriend Livia over the phone.

Montalbano is on his own for the most part. He drives the investigations into Bosellino and Mariangela’s murders. He trusts his instincts and convinces those around him to come around to his way of thinking, including Augello, Fazio, and even the commissioner.
