Summary

Chapter 1

Reece has his revenge on Tirus for Selese’s death. After killing Tirus, he feels both satisfied and numb. In the great hall, Reece realizes that it is only he, Matus, and Srog against dozens of Upper Islander troops. Reece knows he will die; but, he is determined to take out as many enemy soldiers as possible before his death. Stara appears from out of nowhere. Using a bow and arrow, she breaks the rope that holds the massive chandelier over the room, causing the chandelier to crash down and crush many of the soldiers beneath. More men pour into the room, blocking all exits. Reece, Matus, Srog, and Stara fight their way through the enemy soldiers up to the wooden bleachers that line the room.
