Chapters 13 - 16 Summary

In Chapter 13, Havers tells Lynley her theory about Gillian Teys and how Gillian managed to contact Roberta after leaving Keldale. Havers believes that Roberta Teys was looking for a message from Gillian in the local newspaper. A newspaper clipping Havers found at the farmhouse leads Havers to believe that Gillian Teys is living in London at a place called Testament House, which is a facility for teenage runaways.

Lynley takes Havers to the York train station. Havers is going to London to locate Gillian Teys and hopefully convince the young woman to return to Keldale. Lynley visits Tessa Mowrey at home once more.

Tessa Mowrey refuses to contact the police about her husband's disappearance. Lynley surprises Tessa when he tells her that Gillian, her oldest daughter, left Keldale when she was sixteen and that no one ever heard from her again...
