Summary

In “Chapter 6,” Kirabo went back to see Nsuuta again. Nsuuta told her she had seen her mother, who had just finished studying at Kyambogo Technical College. She was married to a man who did not know she had given birth to Kirabo as a young teenager. She wept for Kirabo, and missed her dearly, but she did not want to ruin her marriage. Nsuuta said she did not know her name, or where to find her, and insisted that Kirabo be patient. She also explained to Kirabo that she flies because she is full of the “original state” of women that has been bred out of the population because Kirabo is so special and so strong. Kirabo wanted to get rid of the “original state” inside her, but Nsuuta told her not to. She told Kirabo a creation story about Kintu...
