Summary

Chapter 17. In the Exomm meeting, Nate learns that the Soviet ambassador refused to look at a formal map of the interception line, that Castro refused to stop building the missile launch sites, and that the reconnaissance flights over Cuba should continue. It is decided that if the American planes are fired on the following morning, the Americans will have no choice but to retaliate.

After the meeting, Nate sits in on a meeting between Jack and the head of the CIA. The CIA man accuses Nate of working with the Soviets. Jack practically laughs at him, but Nate does learn that the man who has now twice helped him against the GRU is a CIA agent.
