Darcy Barrett

Darcy Barrett is a young woman in her mid-twenties with a background in photography who lives in her family’s home. She has struggled with a heart condition since her childhood as well as a huge crush on her twin brother’s best friend, Tom Valeska. After her grandmother’s death, the family decides to renovate her cottage and sell it, enlisting Tom’s help as a contractor. Her efforts to guard her heart while finally getting closer to Tom are drawn-out throughout the entire novel.

Darcy is forced to grapple with her differing expectations for her future when her rocky relationship with her brother Jamie hits another rough patch and her vision for her relationship with Tom also presents difficulties.
