A life can change in an instant. Gordon Milby is proof of that. As a high school principal and former coach, Milby always took good care of himself; he ate right and exercised regularly. In 1995, most people would have described Milby at age forty-nine as the picture of health. But unknown to Milby, something was seriously wrong with his heart. "I became very sick in July 1995, while on a trip to Florida," explained Milby. "When I returned to Kentucky I checked with my doctor and at that time he put me on medication and tried to help my failing heart. The diagnosis was cardiomyopathy.
