One of the explanations that ghost researchers give for haunted places is that the house (or other site) retains the spiritual energy of the people who lived-or died-there and the events that occurred there, especially if the people underwent great emotional upheaval or the events were emotion charged. Sometimes, a witness experiences this spiritual energy as a vague feeling of uneasiness or perhaps as lights and sounds that have no known source.
