Cyberdating-meeting someone online-is growing in popularity among people too busy or too shy to obtain face—to—face dates. Many people consider Internet dating to be both risky and impersonal, but newspaper journalist Jill Sell, who writes for Cleveland's The Plain Dealer, reports that researchers have a more positive view of this modern way to meet and possibly court someone. Dating online, she notes, hearkens back to earlier times when letter writing was the principal way men and women shared their most personal feelings. Many online romances do not end with happily—ever—after stories. But a large number of people who enjoy writing as a way to share their thoughts and emotions are discovering that cyberdating can definitely broaden their romantic possibilities.
