Russian mathematician whose work in geometry and topology was of great importance. Lyusternik's work in polyhedra (solid shapes with many sides) included shapes that inspired Buckminister Fuller to invent the geodesic dome, after whom the pure carbon molecule "buckminsterfullerene" (C60) was named.
