Scottish physician and writer best known as one of Queen Anne's physicians. In addition to his distinction in medicine, Arbuthnot was also well-known for his literary efforts, including a series of five pamphlets satirizing the Duke of Marlborough titled The History of John Bull. Arbuthnot wrote medical works in addition to his social satire.
