Italian humanist remembered as one of great philologists and classical scholars of the Renaissance. His translations and detailed commentaries of ancient Greek authors did much to stimulate scientific work in the early Renaissance. He works include a commentary on Pliny (1476) in which he deals with earthquakes, a corrected edition of Ptolemy's Cosmographia (1477), and annotations on Galen (1505). Beroaldo also estimated the time from creation to Christ's birth at 3,929 years.
