Who is Carolus Linnaeus and how did he contribute to science?

Carolus Linnaeus (not his original name) was the scientist that came up with the standardized way of naming organisms on this planet. He came up with the designations of kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species and is the father of the binomial nomenclature (two part Latin names for things).
