There are some great techniques to make sense and allow assimilation of all the material that exists in a microbiology class. One very helpful thing to do is to use index cards bound in some sort of notebook, or with a ring. As new terms come up (or new organisms) enter them onto their own card. Look at these terms every evening for just a little while. Putting this into long term memory is the only way to go. Also, do what you can to view the microbiological systems in real life (either under a 'scope, or view photographed slides). Lastly, attend every class and rewrite notes each day.
